Alan Goodwin “Dex” Poindexter (November 5, 1961 – July 1, 2012) was an American naval officer & pilot for the F-14 Tomcat Fighter Jet, and a NASA astronaut. Poindexter was selected in the 1998 NASA Group (G17) and went into orbit aboard Space Shuttle missions STS-122, and STS-131.
Poindexter serviced in the Persian Gulf during Operations Desert Storm and Southern Watch.
Ball now releases a limited edition watch to honor its relationship with Captain Poindexter and his posthumous foundation, whose proceeds go to a foundation, created in the name of his son (Samuel), to assist the boy who has severe autism.
