Yes — removing Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) is very difficult.
Here’s why:

Bond strength: PVD isn’t like a thin electroplated coating. It’s a hard, dense layer that bonds at the molecular level with the surface (often stainless steel).

Durability: It’s designed to be scratch-resistant, so common stripping chemicals won’t dissolve it.

Removal methods: The only practical ways are mechanical (abrasive blasting, sanding, grinding, polishing) or highly specialized chemical processes. Even then, you risk damaging the base metal if not done carefully.
